Daily News

A daily news is a newspaper that comes out every day and contains information about current events. It covers various topics such as politics, business, sports, and entertainment. It also contains opinion articles. Many people read the daily news to keep themselves informed about what is happening in their country and around the world. Some examples of daily news are The New York Times and Wall Street Journal.

The Yale Daily News Historical Archive provides access to digitized versions of printed issues of the Yale Daily News, the oldest college daily newspaper in the United States. The archive includes all issues published from 1878 to 1996, including the original version of the Daily News as well as its successors the Yale Alumni Weekly and the Yale Record. The archive is available to the public and many of its past editors, writers and contributors have gone on to prominent careers in journalism and public life, including William F. Buckley, Lan Samantha Chang, John Hersey, Strobe Talbott, and Calvin Trillin.

In its heyday the New York Daily News, founded in 1919 as the Illustrated Daily News by Joseph Medill Patterson and owned by the Tribune Company of Chicago, was the first major American tabloid newspaper to achieve mass circulation. Its headquarters was in the landmark art deco Daily News Building at 450 West 33rd Street, which straddled the tracks of Pennsylvania Station in Manhattan. The newspaper was notorious for sensational coverage of crime, scandal and violence and lurid photographs.

After World War II, the New York Daily News lost its once-dominant position to other metropolitan newspapers. In the 1980s, it struggled to compete with the Chicago Sun-Times and its own sister paper, the Los Angeles Daily News. It continued to emphasize its foreign coverage, however, and was renowned for the excellence of its staff. It was widely considered one of the finest American dailies in its time.

Today, the Daily News is known for its large and prominent photographs, intense city news coverage, celebrity gossip, classified ads, comics, a sports section, and an opinion section. The newspaper also has a strong online presence, offering an E-dition that is a digital replica of the print edition. The E-dition includes all of the same content as the print edition, and it can be read on any device that has a browser or Internet connection.
