How to Write About Entertaiment

Entertaiment is an activity that diverts the attention or imagination. It may involve physical engagement, such as play; mimicking adult behaviour (through drama, puppetry and group games); or a focus on the senses through music, art, food and film. In children, entertainment often involves the imitation of adults, such as watching television and playing with dolls and pets.

In a well written entertainment article, the writer will engage the reader by painting pictures with words. This can be done by using techniques such as describing what the characters are seeing, hearing, smelling and feeling. It can also be done by being specific – instead of saying he drove fast, say he “zipped through the winding roads at 80 miles per hour”.

For example, writing about new karaoke bars in a particular area is an ideal topic to get people excited about a fun night out. Similarly, writing about the best new science fiction books is another great way to inspire people to pick up some new reads.
