What is Law New?

Law new refers to the resurgence and development of Thomistic natural law theory by Germain Grisez, John Finnis, Joseph Boyle and others. It is a particular interpretation of St Thomas Aquinas’s doctrine on natural law.

Law: An official rule or regulation that governs behavior within a society or country. Laws are created and passed by a legislative body such as Congress. A proposed law is known as a bill and a law passed by a legislature is called a statute.

A committee report outlines the purpose and scope of a proposed law. It also explains the reasons the bill should be approved and includes a section-by-section analysis of the legislation, including text of laws being repealed or amended.
